How to raise culturally responsive children

Jocelynn is a mother of 5, and a teacher who specializes in showing how teachers can create a culturally responsive classroom.

Jocelynn is a mother of 5, and a teacher who specializes in showing how teachers can create a culturally responsive classroom. She also homeschools and helps apply these same principles to the home.

Jocelynn is a wealth of information, compassion, empathy and support for both parents and teachers. And of course her students. She is also an expert in culturally responsive teaching.

Cultural responsiveness can actually be very easy to implement. Jocelynn teaches us the three Ps to making it happen. Play, picture books and perspective.

What I loved most about this episode was learning how I can incorporate more cultural responsiveness in our home, and not be intimidated by it. As mothers we have a responsibility to educate and nurture our children in ways that will benefit not only them, but society at large.

This episode with Jocelynn was such an honor. I was able to reflect on my past teaching experience, share what I wish I had known and differently and was able to get clarity around how I want to both educate and nurture my children on what society deems taboo, or generally uncomfortable conversations.

We shared some of our most vulnerable moments as former teachers, and mothers and I am so grateful for the chance to dive deep with her.
